Case IH 9010 – EDC/Hitch Controller or Front Hitch Management / Suspended Front Axle module: Front hitch is moving in the wrong direction (when Front Hitch Management is enabled)
Issue description
This is a closed-loop control error. The tractor's control module is commanding the front hitch to move in a specific direction (e.g., raise), but the feedback signal from the front hitch position sensor indicates that the hitch is physically moving in the opposite direction (e.g., lower).

Check the cause
Check if the tractor recently had hydraulic service, as hydraulic hoses for the raise and lower circuits may have been accidentally swapped at the front hitch cylinders or control valve.
Visually inspect the front hitch position sensor (potentiometer) and its mechanical linkage to ensure it is not broken, loose, bent, or installed backwards (which would invert the mechanical sweep).
Monitor the front hitch position sensor voltage via the diagnostic menu or scan tool while manually actuating the hitch to verify smooth and correct scaling.
Check the raise and lower solenoids on the front hitch electro-hydraulic remote valve for sticking spools or electrical shorts.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface. Lower the front hitch completely to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the engine and remove the key.
Correct Hydraulic Lines
If the diagnostic checks revealed reversed hydraulic lines, disconnect the hoses at the front hitch cylinders, swap them to their correct ports, and securely tighten the fittings.
Repair/Replace Sensor Linkage
If the position sensor linkage has slipped or is installed inverted, loosen the retaining hardware, correct the orientation of the linkage arm so it sweeps in the proper direction, and retighten.
Replace the Position Sensor
If the sensor is providing erratic, dead, or internally inverted voltage signals, disconnect the wiring harness plug. Remove the mounting bolts securing the potentiometer to the hitch frame, and install a new position sensor.
Service the Control Valve
If the sensor and hoses are correct but the hitch still moves backward due to a stuck valve, remove the front hitch directional control valve solenoids. Clean the valve spool or replace the solenoid/valve assembly if it is internally bypassing.
Calibrate the Front Hitch
After replacing the sensor or correcting the hydraulics, you must perform a front hitch calibration procedure using the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface or a service tool. This teaches the controller the new minimum and maximum voltage limits for the hitch's range of motion.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the 9010 fault code from the controller and test the front hitch operation using the cab controls to ensure it raises and lowers correctly.
