Case IH 9015 - ACML – Armrest Controller (ACML): Front hitch height limit potentiometer – inconsistency

The control system is receiving an erratic, illogical, or out-of-range signal from the dial/potentiometer used by the operator to set the maximum lift height for the front hitch.

   Check for related armrest codes (e.g., 18035, 18036, 18037) that might narrow down the electrical fault.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors inside the armrest connecting the potentiometer to the Armrest Control Module for chafed wires, loose pins, or disconnected plugs.

   Verify that the potentiometer is receiving a steady 5V reference signal and has a good ground from the armrest controller.

   Perform a signal sweep test using a multimeter or diagnostic tool by monitoring the signal voltage while slowly turning the height limit dial. The voltage should change smoothly without dropping out or spiking.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working inside the armrest.

   Access the Armrest Internals

   Remove the screws securing the top cover or side panel of the multi-function armrest console to expose the internal circuit boards and potentiometers.

   Remove the Faulty Potentiometer

   Pull the plastic knob off the front hitch height limit dial. Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector from the back of the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut securing the potentiometer to the armrest housing and pull the switch out.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the new potentiometer into the housing, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the knob back onto the splined shaft.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the armrest cover panels.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and clear the inactive fault codes. Run the Hitch Calibration Procedure via the tractor's display monitor so the Armrest Controller can learn the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum voltage values.
