Case IH 9029 – Remote (AUX) Controller or Armrest Controller: Controller Memory Error -- Loss of Valve Calibration Data
Issue description
The controller has lost the stored calibration values that tell it the physical limits and neutral positions of the auxiliary (remote) hydraulic valves.

Check the cause
Check for accompanying potentiometer fault codes (e.g., AUX 11010, 11020, 11030, or 11040) which indicate failed remote valve lever potentiometers.
Check lever neutral position: if the display prompts to 'move EHR to neutral' but the lever is physically centered, the internal switch/potentiometer is likely worn out.
Inspect the wiring harness from the armrest controls to the AUX controller, and from the controller to the remote valves, for shorts or open circuits.
Repair steps
Start In-Cab Calibration
Method 1 (Steiger / Magnum / Puma): With the tractor off, press and hold the PROG (Program) key on the A-post display.
Turn ignition ON
Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine) while continuing to hold the PROG key.
Select calibration mode
Navigate through the menu to find the ARM (Armrest) section and select the calibration mode.
Follow on-screen prompts
Follow the on-screen prompts: typically, you will be asked to pull the remote levers fully back (raise detent), push them fully forward (lower detent), and then return them to neutral.
Save calibration data
Once completed, turn the ignition key OFF and wait at least 30 seconds before restarting the tractor to allow the controller to save the new calibration data to memory.
Connect diagnostic tool
Method 2 (MX / Maxxum Series): Connect the remote calibration tool (pressure transducer) to the diagnostic test port located at the back of the tractor under the cab.
Activate calibration menu
Turn the key ON to activate the 'H' menu (e.g., H1 for calibration) on the instrument cluster.
Perform calibration
Move the flow control to max flow, then pull the corresponding remote lever into the raise detent position as prompted by the display.
Replace SCV pod
If the calibration fails repeatedly, the SCV pod/armrest lever must be replaced.
