9060 - UCM

Case IH 9060 - UCM – UCM: Front hitch 14bar accumulator solenoid - open circuit or short circuit to ground

Issue description

The control module detects a break in the electrical path (open circuit) or the power/signal wire is making unintended contact with the machine's chassis (short circuit to ground), preventing the solenoid from actuating.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Magnum series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the UCM to the front hitch accumulator solenoid for obvious signs of chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground.

  2. Disconnect the solenoid and inspect the pins for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back terminals, which commonly cause open circuits.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the continuity of the wires between the UCM harness connector and the solenoid connector. Test the power wire for continuity to ground to rule out a short circuit.

  4. Measure the resistance across the pins of the 14bar accumulator solenoid itself to verify the internal coil is not open or shorted.

Repair steps

  1. Repair or replace

Repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness if a short or break is found.

  2. Clean and lubricate

Clean and apply dielectric grease to the connectors if corrosion is the culprit.

  3. Replace

Replace the front hitch accumulator solenoid valve if the internal coil fails the resistance test.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Front Hitch Accumulator Solenoid Valve / EHR Valve Solenoid

Verify exact tractor model and serial number with a Case IH parts catalog, as solenoid configurations vary depending on the specific front hitch and hydraulic pump options installed on the machine.
