Case IH 9069 - UCM – UCM: Short circuit to 12V on front hitch 14bar accumulator solenoid
Issue description
The system has detected an electrical fault where the circuit controlling the front hitch 14bar accumulator solenoid is improperly receiving a continuous 12 volts of power, indicating a higher current than normal is flowing through the system.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Maxxum series (110 EP to 140 EP)
- Magnum series (MX Magnum, Magnum 235-340)
- T7/T8 equivalents
- Axial-Flow Combines 2166
- Axial-Flow Combines 2188
- Axial-Flow Combines 2366
- Axial-Flow Combines 2388
Check the cause
Ensure the power to the system is turned off before testing.
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the UCM and the front hitch accumulator solenoid for pinched, corroded, or damaged wires.
Use a multimeter to test the wiring harness for a short circuit to the 12V power supply.
Test the accumulator solenoid coil to determine if the short circuit is internal to the component.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Disconnect the machine's battery/power source.
Repair or replace wiring harness
If the multimeter test reveals a harness issue, repair or replace the damaged sections of the wiring harness that are shorting to the 12V source.
Replace solenoid coil or assembly
If the short is internal to the solenoid, replace the 12V coil or the entire accumulator solenoid valve assembly.
Test system
Reconnect power, clear the fault codes from the UCM, and road/field test the vehicle to ensure the front hitch operates correctly and the code does not return.
