9319

Case IH 9319 – Hitch Controller: Invalid Config.-- Hitch calibrated for position only but Armrest calibrated for draft mode.

Issue description

This indicates a configuration mismatch between two major control systems on the tractor. The system is detecting that the hitch has been set up and calibrated strictly for position control, while the armrest controls are simultaneously configured and calibrated to operate in draft control mode. Because these two configurations conflict, the system flags it as an invalid setup.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • STX Steiger
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series (MX170, MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
  • Case IH STX / Steiger Series

Check the cause

  1. Check Calibrations: Access the tractor's monitor (e.g., Pro 700 display) or use the electronic service tool to view the current configuration settings for both the Hitch and the Armrest.

  2. Verify Hardware: Determine if the tractor is actually equipped with draft pins/draft control hardware. If it is not, the armrest should not be configured for draft mode.

  3. Check for Memory Loss Codes: Look for accompanying fault codes, specifically 10030 (Controller Memory Error - Loss of hitch calibration data). If code 10030 is present, the Hitch Controller may be failing to hold its memory, causing it to revert to a default 'position only' state.

Repair steps

  1. Park tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface and ensure the tractor is completely stationary (tractor movement will abort the calibration and throw code 9320).

  2. Start engine

Start the engine. Ensure the engine speed is set and maintained above 1600 RPM (failure to do so will trigger code 9318 during the lower valve calibration).

  3. Navigate to menu

Navigate to the 'Hitch Calibration Menu' on the instrumentation display or via the connected electronic service tool.

  4. Reconfigure settings

Reconfigure the settings so that both the Armrest Controller and the Hitch Controller match (set both to 'Position Control' or both to 'Draft Control', depending on the tractor's physical equipment).

  5. Perform calibration

Perform the full Hitch Controller Calibration procedure.

  6. Save and restart

Save the calibration, turn the key off to let the modules power down and store the data, then restart the tractor.

  7. Clear codes

Use the electronic service tool or monitor to clear the logged diagnostic codes and verify the fault does not return.
