A-G-060 - Display

Case IH A-G-060 - Display – Autoguidance System / Display: Display: "Roading Mode On"

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the autoguidance system cannot engage because the vehicle's remote roading switch (or master guidance switch) is currently set to "Road" mode (or is turned off). This is a built-in safety mechanism designed to disable automated steering and guidance features while the equipment is being driven on public roads.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Steiger
  • Magnum
  • Puma
  • Maxxum
  • Axial-Flow 5088
  • Axial-Flow 6088
  • Axial-Flow 7088
  • Axial-Flow 7230
  • Axial-Flow 8250

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the roading switch (located on the headliner, upper right switch panel, or armrest) and verify it is physically set to 'Field' mode rather than 'Road' mode.

  2. On certain combine models (like the 88 series), verify if the separator needs to be engaged before the system recognizes the switch as active.

  3. Access the diagnostic settings page on the AFS display to monitor the switch's voltage with the switch in both the OFF and ON positions.

  4. Use a multimeter to test the switch for internal continuity.

  5. Check the wiring harness for a short to a power source (reading >11.5 volts when it shouldn't be) or an open circuit between the switch and the control module (such as UCM2).

Repair steps

  1. Toggle the Switch

Manually flip the roading switch from road mode to field mode. Power cycle the machine (turn the key off and back on) to see if the code clears.

  2. Test and Replace the Switch

If the code persists, remove the switch from the trim panel. Test it with an ohmmeter. If the switch fails the continuity test, replace it with a new OEM switch.

  3. Repair the Harness

If the switch is functioning properly, the issue is likely a short or break in the wiring harness. Trace the wiring from the switch connector down to the control module (e.g., UCM2 or NavController). Locate and repair any pinched, frayed, or shorted wires.

  4. System Reboot

After repairing the wiring or replacing the switch, restart the system and attempt to engage the autoguidance to verify the repair.
