A-G-145 - Display

Case IH A-G-145 - Display – Navigation Controller (NAV II / NAV III): Too Fast to Engage

Issue description

The operator is attempting to engage the automated steering system while the vehicle is traveling at a speed that is greater than the maximum allowed threshold for engagement.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Magnum series tractors
  • Steiger series tractors
  • Puma series tractors
  • Optum series tractors
  • Maxxum series tractors
  • Axial-Flow series combines
  • Patriot sprayers
  • Defensor sprayers

Check the cause

  1. Verify the actual ground speed of the vehicle when the operator is pressing the AccuGuide engage button

  2. Observe the ground speed displayed on the AFS monitor while driving at a known slow speed to check speed sensor accuracy

  3. Ensure the correct machine profile and steering aggressiveness settings are selected in the AFS display

Repair steps

  1. Decrease Speed

Instruct the operator to slow the vehicle down to a standard field working speed (typically below 10-15 mph, depending on the specific implement and tractor profile).

  2. Re-Engage

Once the vehicle is traveling at an acceptable speed, press the AccuGuide engage button on the MultiController or armrest. The system should acquire the line and take over steering.

  3. Address False Readings

If the operator is driving slowly but the code still triggers, recalibrate the ground speed radar or wheel speed sensor via the AFS display calibration menus.

  4. Software Update

If the system refuses to engage at any speed and speed sensors read correctly, update or roll back the firmware on the Pro 700 display and NAV controller to resolve software handshake glitches.
