Case IH A-G-165 - Display – Autoguidance System / Navigation Controller: Heading Error to Swath too High

The vehicle is positioned at an extreme angle relative to the intended guidance line (swath direction) when the operator presses the 'Auto' button to engage the autosteer system, preventing engagement as a safety measure.

   Visual Alignment Check: Look at the display and out the windshield to verify the vehicle's physical heading relative to the A-B line

   Speed Check: Check if the vehicle is moving too fast, as high speeds reduce the allowable angle of approach for autoguidance engagement

   Signal Verification: Ensure the GPS receiver has a solid RTK or correction signal to rule out GPS drift causing a false heading calculation

   Active Faults Check: Verify that no other active fault codes are present (such as steering angle sensor faults) that could feed incorrect steering geometry data

   Take Manual Control

   Manually steer the vehicle to reduce the heading angle.

   Align with the Swath

   Point the nose of the tractor so it is more parallel to the desired guidance line.

   Reduce Speed

   Slow the vehicle down to increase the system's probability of safely acquiring the swath.

   Re-engage

   Press the 'Auto' or 'Retry' button on the multi-function handle or display to engage the automatic steering mode.

   Calibration

   If the issue persists when perfectly aligned, perform a 'coarse' and 'fine' AccuGuide dead-zone calibration and recalibrate the steering angle sensor via the AFS display.
