Case IH A-G-175 - Display – Autoguidance / Precision Farming System: Cross Track Error

The physical distance the vehicle is off the desired swath or AB guidance line is too large. The system logs this error when the vehicle is either too far away from the line to safely engage the automatic steering, or it has veered too far off the line while autosteer was active, causing the system to disengage for safety.

   Check Vehicle Position: Look at the 'Cross Track Error' window on the display to verify if the operator is trying to engage the system too far from the line.

   Monitor for Steering Oscillations: Observe if the tractor drops out of autosteer due to large, slow oscillations or sudden jumps, indicating incorrect steering 'Aggressiveness' settings.

   Check GPS Signal Convergence: Ensure the GPS receiver has full convergence and hasn't lost its RTK or correction signal, which can cause perceived location jumps.

   Evaluate Steering Components: If the tractor repeatedly veers away from the swath on its own, check for mechanical wear in the steering linkage or a failing steering angle sensor.

   Manual Realignment

   Take manual control of the steering wheel. Decrease the vehicle's speed and manually drive the vehicle closer to the selected swath/wayline.

   Re-engage System

   Once the displayed cross-track error is within acceptable limits (typically below 10-15 cm depending on the implement), press the 'Retry' button or use the engage button on the multifunction handle to re-engage automatic mode.

   Adjust Aggressiveness

   Navigate to the Autoguidance setup screen on the PRO display. If the vehicle is wandering off the line, adjust the 'Aggressiveness' or 'Line Acquisition' settings. Increase aggressiveness if the steering is too slow to react; decrease it if the steering is overly jerky and overcorrecting.

   Recalibrate Steering

   If the tractor consistently drives to one side of the line, perform a steering valve calibration and reset the roll/pitch calibration on the NavController.
