Case IH A-G-600 - Display – Autoguidance System: Guidance Communication Error

The Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) display has lost Controller Area Network (CAN bus) communication with the autoguidance components, such as the Nav II/Nav III controller or the GPS receiver.

   Check Harness Connections: Inspect the cables running from the GPS antenna/receiver to the Nav controller and the AFS display. Look for loose plugs, bent pins, or corrosion.

   Verify CAN Bus Integrity: Check the vehicle's CAN bus lines for continuity and ensure no wires are shorted to ground or power.

   Check Power and Fuses: Ensure the Nav controller and GPS receiver are receiving adequate voltage and that no related fuses are blown.

   Software/Calibration Check: Verify that the correct vehicle model is selected in the AFS display's calibration menu, as incorrect settings can cause the display to fail to recognize the Nav controller.

   Clear the display

   Press the PROG or ACK key to see if the communication error is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch.

   Disconnect and reconnect connectors

   Disconnect and reconnect the three main connectors from the GPS antenna and the connectors at the Nav controller (often located under the right-hand console or behind the cab window) to ensure they are seated tightly.

   Repair or replace wiring

   If a wiring fault is found during the diagnostic phase, repair or replace the damaged section of the CAN bus harness.

   Re-flash software or replace hardware

   If the wiring is intact but communication cannot be established, the Nav controller or the AFS display may require a software re-flash via the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or physical replacement.
