A-G-645 - Display

Case IH A-G-645 - Display – Raven RS1 Unit: Software Installation in Progress

Issue description

The Software Installation in Progress display is a system status message rather than a hard component failure. It indicates that the system is currently downloading or applying an over-the-air (OTA) software update via the Slingshot server. If the system is stuck on this message, it typically points to an interrupted update, a pending End User License Agreement (EULA) acceptance, or a loss of cellular/Wi-Fi connection during the update process.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Case IH Patriot Sprayers (3xx0 series, model years 2010-2016; 4440 series, model years 2017-2018)
  • Case IH Trident 5550
  • Case IH Steiger & Quadtrac tractors (e.g., 335, 385, 435, 485, 535)

Check the cause

  1. Check Connection Status: Navigate to the Cellular Status or WiFi Status screen on the display to verify the modem has a stable connection (e.g., 4G signal strength) to complete the download.

  2. Check for Pending EULA: Navigate to the Slingshot Home Screen. The system will halt operations if the End User License Agreement (EULA) has not been accepted.

  3. Check DTC Screen: Navigate to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) screen to see if there are any active red or yellow steering status icons that indicate a separate hardware failure preventing the system from booting properly.

Repair steps

  1. Allow Update to Complete

Do not interrupt power to the RS1 unit while the installation is actively progressing.

  2. Accept the EULA

If the system has rebooted but is stuck, go to the Slingshot Home Screen, press the Remote Diagnostics button, and accept the End User License Agreement (EULA). Note: The manual states the EULA must be pressed after every power cycle unless it is permanently accepted on the Slingshot Portal.

  3. Force Field Update

If the installation is stalled, navigate to the Slingshot Home Screen and select the Field Update button to manually view and re-apply the latest software updates for the RS1 unit.

  4. Verify Steering Status

Once the update clears, verify that the steering wheel and GPS icons turn dark green, indicating that there are no active diagnostic codes and the system is ready to engage.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Raven RS1 Receiver / Steering Controller

Generic replacement part. Only required if the update permanently bricks the module and it cannot be recovered via the Slingshot portal.
