Case IH A-G-905 - Display – Nav Controller (NavII or NavIII): Steering Controller Disengaged

The tractor's auto-guidance system (AccuGuide or IntelliSteer) has automatically kicked out of hands-free steering mode. This is most commonly caused by the system's steering wheel encoder (Hall Effect Sensor) detecting slight movement, loss of GNSS/RTK signal quality, rapid directional changes, or uncalibrated steering components.

   Observe if the steering wheel is vibrating or moving slightly over rough terrain, which can trigger a manual disengage via the Hall Effect Sensors

   Ensure the tractor is set to 'off-road mode' on the Pro 1200 display (external guidance will not work in on-road mode)

   Verify that the required GNSS/RTK reception is available and stable

   Check hydraulic fluid levels and inspect for contamination (cloudy fluid or metal particles)

   Inspect the steering cylinder for internal damage, such as a bent piston rod or damaged seals

   Verify that the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) and Steering Valve calibrations have been successfully performed by a dealer

   Adjust Manual Override Sensitivity

   If the system is kicking out over rough ground due to steering wheel vibration, a dealer technician must connect a laptop and use the AP Toolbox software to adjust the 'TAP settings'. This reduces the sensitivity of the steering wheel encoder so that minor bumps do not disengage the system.

   Recalibrate Steering Components

   If the controller develops a heading error, perform a full calibration of the Wheel Angle Sensor and the Steering Valve.

   Hydraulic Maintenance

   If hydraulic fluid is low or contaminated, drain the fluid, replace the hydraulic filter, and refill with manufacturer-recommended hydraulic oil.

   Cylinder Replacement

   If diagnostic tests reveal that the steering wheel turns but the wheels do not respond properly (indicating a bent rod or blown internal seals), remove and replace the front cross-tube power steering cylinder.
