A-GNSS-102 - Display

Case IH A-GNSS-102 - Display – GNSS Receiver: Drive to Determine Heading

Issue description

The GNSS receiver requires the vehicle to move in order to initialize and calculate its position and heading. The system currently lacks heading data because the vehicle is either stationary, moving too slowly, or making movements that are too small for the receiver to establish a directional vector.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Magnum tractors
  • Steiger tractors
  • Patriot sprayers
  • Axial-Flow combines

Check the cause

  1. Verify Mounting: Ensure that the GNSS receiver is secured in the proper location on the cab roof and is facing the correct orientation.

  2. Check for Obstructions: Ensure the machine is outdoors with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky so the receiver can track satellites.

  3. Verify Configuration: Ensure the receiver settings (like connector and label orientation) are correctly configured in the display.

Repair steps

  1. Start machine

Start the machine and wait for the GNSS status to change to “Drive to Determine Heading”.

  2. Drive vehicle

Begin driving the vehicle. Speed up or slow down to allow the system to determine the heading.

  3. Avoid slow movements

Avoid making slow or small movements, as this will extend the amount of driving required to determine the vehicle heading.

  4. Turn vehicle

If operating a highly maneuverable machine (like a sprayer), turn the vehicle if possible to help the receiver calculate the yaw and heading.

  5. Monitor status

Stop the vehicle and monitor the GNSS status on the display to confirm initialization is complete.

  6. Inspect hardware

If the code will not clear after extensive driving: Inspect the receiver's wiring harness for damage, verify the mounting bracket is not loose, and consider testing with a known-good GNSS receiver.
