A-GNSS-111 - Display

Case IH A-GNSS-111 - Display – Display: Display: "Move to Open Sky"

Issue description

The GNSS reception is poor, and the system cannot determine a position or heading because the receiver's view of the satellites is obstructed by physical barriers.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Magnum AFS Connect series
  • Steiger AFS Connect series
  • Optum series tractors
  • Puma series tractors
  • Patriot series sprayers
  • Axial-Flow combines

Check the cause

  1. Move the vehicle to an open area with a clear view of the sky, away from buildings, sheds, or dense tree lines.

  2. Leave the machine stationary in the open for 2–3 minutes to allow the GNSS system to initialize and acquire satellites.

  3. Ensure the correct correction source is selected in the display (e.g., NTRIP / Internet RTK vs. OEM corrections like RTX) and verify any required RTK unlock/license is active.

  4. Visually inspect the roof-mounted GNSS receiver/antenna, connectors, and cabling.

  5. Look for water ingress in the connectors or physical damage to the coaxial cables.

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Hardware

If software settings are correct and the machine is in an open area but still fails to get a fix, disconnect the GNSS receiver cabling.

  2. Test with Known-Good Components

Swap in a known-good GNSS antenna and/or coaxial extension cable to determine if the issue lies with the wiring or the receiver itself.

  3. Replace Faulty Wiring

If the test cable restores the signal, replace the damaged coaxial harness routed to the cab roof.

  4. Replace the Receiver

If the cabling is intact and a known-good receiver works, the machine's GNSS receiver has failed internally and must be replaced.

  5. Recalibrate

After replacing the receiver, you may need to drive the tractor to determine heading and allow the system to re-initialize its position.
