Case IH A-GNSS-112 - Display – Display: RTK Fill time Nearly Exhausted

Issue description

The machine's GNSS receiver has lost its primary Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) correction signal (either cellular AFS RTK+ or radio-delivered RTK). This fault code is a warning that the 20-minute RTK Fill backup window is almost up, after which the receiver will drop to a lower-tier correction type or lose auto-guidance.

Check the cause

  1. Check the operating environment for physical obstructions (hills, deep valleys, heavy tree canopy, or buildings) that could be blocking the radio line-of-sight or cellular network connection.

  2. Check the 'GNSS Status Page' on the AFS Pro 1200 display to verify 'RTK Fill Status' and 'Corrections' menus for current signal strength and estimated accuracy.

  3. If using Radio RTK (900MHz/450MHz): Ensure the local base station is powered on, transmitting, and that the machine is within range. Verify the radio frequency and channel ID in the GNSS setup menu.

  4. If using Cellular AFS RTK+ (NTRIP): Check the telematics/modem connectivity status on the display to ensure the machine has an active cellular data connection.

  5. Verify that your AFS RTK+ cellular subscription or RTK encryption keys have not expired. Ensure the 16-digit encryption key and network ID are correctly entered.

  6. Inspect the GNSS receiver (e.g., Vector Pro) mounted on the roof for physical damage, and check the wiring harness for loose connections or corrosion.

Repair steps

  1. Regain signal

    Move the machine to an area with a clear, open view of the sky and better cellular/radio reception. Once the primary RTK correction signal is restored, the RTK Fill countdown will automatically reset back to 20 minutes, and the fault code will clear.

  2. Reconfigure corrections

    If the signal does not return, press the 'Settings' tab on the AFS Pro 1200 top bar and open the 'GNSS & Guidance' setup card. Navigate to the 'GNSS screen' and select the 'RTK corrections setup' menu. For cellular RTK, select 'NTRIP' and verify network settings. For radio RTK, verify the Country code, Channel ID, and 16-digit encryption key. Press 'Save'.

  3. Reboot system

    Cycle the key power to allow the AFS Pro 1200 and Vector Pro receiver to re-initialize and establish a fresh connection to the RTK network.

  4. Replace GNSS receiver

    If the receiver fails to acquire an RTK signal despite verified network coverage, active subscriptions, and correct settings, the GNSS receiver hardware may have an internal failure (such as a failed cellular modem or radio module) and will need to be replaced.
