ARM1099

Case IH ARM1099 – ARM: Aux Remote Valve LIMIT SET Switch Failed

Issue description

The Armrest Controller (ARM) has detected a malfunction in the electronic switch responsible for setting the flow or detent limits for an auxiliary remote valve. This fault code indicates a problem with the switch itself, not with other components or circuits in the hydraulic system. Its failure can impede the proper setup and function of implements connected to these hydraulic circuits.

Applies to these machines

  • MX210
  • MX230
  • MX255
  • MX285
  • TG Series
  • Steiger Series
  • Quadtrac 500

Check the cause

  1. Review the tractor's operational history for any intermittent issues with auxiliary hydraulic functions

  2. Check for any other active fault codes in the Armrest (ARM) or other controllers that might indicate a related issue, such as a communication error (ERR COM)

  3. Perform a diagnostic test with a Case IH electronic service tool (EST): connect to the data bus, navigate to the 'Monitor' screen, select 'ARMREST AUX REMOTE SET SWITCH', and actuate the switch to see if the status changes. If the status display does not change, it confirms a failure in the switch or its immediate circuitry

  4. Visually inspect the armrest control panel for any signs of physical damage, wear, or liquid intrusion

  5. Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to the armrest console for any visible damage, corrosion, or loose connections

Repair steps

  1. Power down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure the electrical system is de-energized.

  2. Access the armrest console

Depending on the tractor model, remove covers or panels to access the underside and mounting points of the armrest control panel.

  3. Disconnect electrical connectors

Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the faulty control panel.

  4. Remove the faulty panel

Unfasten the screws or clips holding the control panel in place and remove it from the armrest.

  5. Install the new panel

Position the new control panel in the armrest and secure it with the original mounting hardware.

  6. Reconnect electrical connectors

Reconnect the wiring harness to the new panel, ensuring a secure connection.

  7. Reassemble and power up

Reassemble any covers or panels that were removed. Reconnect the battery.

  8. Clear fault codes and verify

Start the tractor and use the electronic service tool to clear the ARM1099 fault code. Operate the new 'LIMIT SET' switch to confirm its functionality and ensure the fault code does not reappear.
