Case IH C (backwards C) – Hitch Control Module: Hitch Control Module Not Calibrated
Issue description
A backwards 'C' displayed in the hitch diagnostic display indicates that the tractor has never been calibrated or the hitch control module is not calibrated. This code will also appear because the hitch must be recalibrated every time a hitch component is replaced or adjusted.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- MX Maxxum
- 7200/8900 series Magnum
- Magnum 7200 Series
- 7210
- 7220
- 7230
- 7240
- 7250
Check the cause
Verify mechanical linkages for loose position levers and rockshaft potentiometer shaft set screws, which can affect hitch performance and cause calibration issues.
Check the battery and cab power stud (located on the cab floor RH console).
Inspect Fuse #7, which supplies power to the hitch control system.
Turn the key to 'ON' and check Pin 14 of the 16-pin connector for power.
Check Pin 1 of the 16-pin connector for a solid ground.
For tractors below serial number JJA0064978, check EDC relay #6, which may be defective (this relay was eliminated on newer models).
Repair steps
Locate calibration procedure
Locate the specific hitch calibration procedure in Section 8009 of the Case IH 7200 Series Service Manual or Service Bulletin NTR SB 026 96.
Initiate calibration sequence
Initiate the calibration sequence. During the reading and erasing of error codes, the diagnostic display will show 'r.' followed by either '102' or '200' (which identifies which version of the controller is installed).
Calibrate components
Follow the manual's prompts to calibrate the rockshaft potentiometer and draft pins.
Monitor for errors
Note during calibration: If a 'g' appears on the diagnostic display during the process, it means the draft pins or their wiring circuit have failed.
Reprogram if no draft control
If the tractor does not have draft control (or the load pins have been removed), the hitch controller must be reprogrammed during step 7 of the calibration procedure to eliminate draft control, and the connector ends must be covered.
