Case IH CL – Transmission Control Module (TCM): Oil Temperature Between 10 and 59 Degrees Centigrade

An informational/status code that appears on the digital instrument cluster during the transmission calibration procedure indicating that the transmission hydraulic oil is too cold to perform an optimal clutch calibration.

   Check the instrument cluster to see if the transmission temperature gauge is registering normal operating temperature.

   If the tractor has been working hard and the oil is definitely hot, but the 'CL' code still appears, check for a faulty Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor reading artificially low.

   Check for accompanying sensor fault codes (such as Error Code 3 - Transmission oil temperature implausible).

   Warm up the tractor

   Exit the calibration mode. Drive the tractor on the road or perform field work under load to heat the transmission oil.

   Re-enter Calibration Mode

   Once the oil is sufficiently warm (around 60°C), park the tractor, apply the handbrake, and re-enter the H1 calibration mode (usually by holding the upshift switch while starting the engine, then pressing downshift).

   Bypass (If absolutely necessary)

   If it is not practical to wait for the oil temperature to rise, the system allows you to bypass the 'CL' warning. While 'CL' is displayed on the screen, press either the upshift or downshift button. The display will change to 'A' (indicating Clutch A), and the manual calibration procedure can proceed. Note: Calibrating cold oil may result in harsh shifting.
