Case IH EHR4146 – EHR: Rear Remote No.4 Under Voltage
Issue description
The system has detected an under-voltage condition at the number four rear electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve. This indicates that the electrical signal to the component has dropped below the expected range, which prevents the proper operation of the associated hydraulic remote. This fault is logged by the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) controller, which may be integrated into the Armrest Control Module (ACM) or Tractor Controller Unit (TCU).
Applies to these machines
12 machines- Magnum 235
- Magnum 260
- Magnum 290
- Magnum 315
- Magnum 340

- T8.300
- T8.330
- T8.360
- T8.380
- T8.390
- T8.410
Check the cause
Verify the tractor's battery is fully charged and the alternator is providing the correct voltage, as low overall system voltage can trigger this fault.
Inspect all fuses and relays related to the EHR and hydraulic systems.
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the No. 4 rear remote valve for chafing, corrosion, or rodent damage, paying close attention to the harness at the tractor's articulation point.
Perform a solenoid voltage test: measure DC voltage across the two wires of the No. 4 remote valve's solenoid. It should read 0 volts in neutral and increase to approximately 5 volts when fully activated in detent. The absence of voltage or a reading significantly below this suggests a wiring or controller issue.
Ensure the electrical connectors are securely plugged into both the extend and retract solenoids (typically located on the top and bottom of the valve block) for the No. 4 remote.
Repair steps
Address basic issues
If low battery voltage or a blown fuse is found, rectify these issues first. Clear the fault codes and operate the tractor to see if the code returns.
Repair wiring
If visible damage to the wiring harness is found, repair the affected wires or replace the harness section. Ensure all connections are clean and secure.
Test solenoids
If the wiring is intact and voltage is present at the connector but the solenoid does not function, the solenoid itself is likely faulty.
Replace faulty components
Replace the solenoid if it is determined to be faulty. Replace the wiring harness if it is damaged beyond repair. In some cases, replace the entire remote valve assembly if the internal components are not serviceable.
Software/firmware update
In some instances, hydraulic system faults have been resolved by a software update performed by a dealer. If mechanical and electrical checks do not reveal a cause, this may be a necessary step.
Clear codes and verify
After any repair, clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool and operate the No. 4 remote to ensure the issue is resolved.
