EHR4336

Case IH EHR4336 – EHR: Rear Remote No.8 Spool Deflection Excessive

Issue description

The EHR (Electronic Hitch and Remote) control module has detected an abnormally large range of travel in the spool of the eighth rear hydraulic remote valve. This excessive deflection indicates a potential mechanical or electrical issue within the valve assembly or its control system, which can negatively impact the performance and precision of the associated hydraulic functions.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 250
  • Magnum 260
  • Magnum 280
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 310
  • Magnum 340

  • Magnum 380
  • T8.275
  • T8.300
  • T8.320
  • T8.330
  • T8.350
  • T8.360
  • T8.380
  • T8.390
  • T8.410
  • T8.420
  • T8.435

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the No. 8 remote valve block and surrounding area for hydraulic fluid leaks, damaged wiring, or corroded connectors

  2. Check hydraulic fluid level and condition, as contaminated fluid can cause spool stiction or erratic behavior

  3. Scan for other active fault codes, such as EHR4330 (Position Transducer Faulty), which could provide a more specific diagnosis

  4. Check the in-cab control lever and potentiometer; if the display indicates the remote is active when in neutral, the lever may be faulty

  5. Perform a swap test by exchanging the electrical connectors (pilot heads) between the faulty No. 8 remote and a known working remote to isolate whether the issue is in the pilot head/wiring or mechanical within the valve

Repair steps

  1. Calibrate EHR remote valves

Warm hydraulic fluid to at least 50°C (122°F). Attempt to recalibrate the EHR remote valves using the A-post display, program key, or electronic service tool before replacing parts.

  2. Inspect spool and valve body

If calibration fails, carefully remove the valve spool from the valve body. Inspect the spool for scoring, wear, or damage, and check the valve body bore for internal wear.

  3. Inspect position transducer and wiring

Inspect the position transducer/sensor and its wiring for damage, as a fault here can generate the incorrect 'excessive deflection' reading.

  4. Replace faulty components

Based on diagnostic findings, replace the faulty control lever, pilot head (solenoid), or the entire remote valve assembly.

Parts you might need

(5)
  • Right-hand remote valve assembly

    47595558

Alternative part numbers: 47434188, 87486189. For Case IH Magnum and New Holland T8 series.

  • Center remote valve assembly

    47595556

For Case IH Magnum and New Holland T8 series.

  • Main Spool

    47429154

Improved remote valve main spool mentioned in service bulletins.

  • Seal Kit86535818

Example kit for DX33; verify correct kit for your specific tractor model by serial number.

  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Section (Rear Remote Valve)

    84172758

Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor model, hydraulic flow rating (standard vs. high-flow), and manifold configuration. Always verify with the machine's serial number. When replacing an EHR valve slice, the new valve must be electronically assigned (renumbered) to position #8 and calibrated to the tractor's CAN network, otherwise it will not function.
