Case IH F-108-01 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - Ambient pressure sensor voltage is lower than expected

The ambient (atmospheric) pressure sensor is physically integrated inside the Engine Control Unit (ECU) circuit board. The ECU monitors this sensor to adjust fuel injection and turbocharger parameters based on altitude and atmospheric conditions. This fault code triggers when the ECU detects that the voltage signal from this internal sensor has dropped below the minimum expected threshold, indicating a hardware failure of the sensor itself or a corrupted dataset.

   Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump starter or high-amperage charger). If an external supply is connected, disconnect it, cycle the key, and test the system for normal operation.

   Attempt to re-flash the ECU with the correct and most up-to-date software dataset using the dealer diagnostic tool to check for a corrupted dataset.

   If a known-good ECU is available, swap the controller to see if the fault clears, which confirms a hard internal defect.

   Attempt Software Flash

   Connect your diagnostic tool and re-flash the ECU. If the fault code changes to inactive, clear the code and test run the machine.

   Replace the ECU

   Because the ambient pressure sensor is soldered internally to the ECU motherboard, it cannot be serviced, cleaned, or replaced independently. If the software flash fails to resolve the issue, the entire Engine Control Unit must be replaced. Note: Replacement is mandatory to restore full functionality and clear the active warning light.

   Install the New ECU

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal, unplug the wiring harnesses from the engine ECU, and unbolt the module from its mounting bracket. Install the replacement unit.

   Program the ECU

   A new or remanufactured ECU will arrive blank or require machine-specific calibration. Use the dealer diagnostic tool to program the ECU with the correct dataset for the machine's specific PIN and engine serial number.
