  • 2166
  • 2388
  • 7240
  • 8240
  • 9240

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the turbocharger wastegate or EVGT mechanism to ensure the linkage is properly attached and not restricted, bent, or blocked.

  2. Check the turbocharger piping, intercooler hoses, and air filter for sudden breaches, leaks, or blockages.

  3. Check the intake manifold pressure (MAP) sensor for correct voltage, heavy soot buildup, or misadjustment.

  4. Inspect the boost pressure actuator wiring supply and the MAP sensor harness for shorts to ground, high resistance, or open circuits.

  5. Verify that the machine is not being operated in extreme ambient pressure conditions which may temporarily trigger the fault.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Connect the dealer service tool to verify if the fault is currently active and check the freeze-frame data for the exact manifold pressure at the time of the fault.

  2. Repair/Replace Linkage

If the visual inspection reveals that the turbocharger wastegate linkage is disconnected or damaged, reattach or replace the linkage components.

  3. Resolve Leaks

Tighten all clamps on the intercooler pipe hose kit and replace any split hoses.

  4. Test/Replace the Boost Sensor

If the wiring harness tests good (continuity to the ECU is intact) but the sensor data is erratic or out of range, replace the Boost Pressure Sensor.

  5. Replace the Actuator/Turbo

If the wastegate actuator fails to move when commanded by the ECU (or if the internal diaphragm/electronics are failed), replace the wastegate actuator. If the actuator is integrated and cannot be serviced separately, the turbocharger assembly must be replaced.

  6. Reset the ECU

Clear the fault codes. Note: If the engine experienced a full power loss or the inducement system locked due to multiple detections (e.g., 3 detections in 40 hours), the system must be reset using the dealer service tool screen 'Engine Restart Counter Reset'.
