Case IH F-1127-31 - ECU – Engine ECU / BCU: Overboost failure in engine brake mode

The engine control system has detected that the turbocharger boost pressure has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold while the engine brake is engaged.

   Check if the Stop Engine / Warning light is illuminated and the engine is experiencing power loss (derate)

2. 2

   Verify if an emergency re-start allows 30 seconds of operation without power loss to move the machine to a safe location

   Check the turbocharger speed sensor voltage for out-of-range values

   Check the boost pressure sensor for out-of-range values

   Verify fault code status

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the code is active or stored.

   Inspect turbocharger actuator

   Inspect the turbocharger wastegate or Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) actuator for sticking or binding, which prevents exhaust gas from bypassing the turbine during engine braking.

   Test wiring harness

   Test the wiring harness for the boost pressure sensor and turbocharger speed sensor for shorts or opens.

4. 4

   Replace faulty components

   Replace the faulty sensor, actuator, or the complete turbocharger assembly if internal mechanical failure (e.g., stuck vanes) is confirmed.
