Case IH F-1569-31 - ECU – ECU: Strong torque limitation from injection system active / Engine Protection Torque Derate - Condition Exists

The engine control module has intentionally reduced engine power (torque derate) to protect the engine or the aftertreatment/emissions system from severe damage. This derate is triggered by the presence of another critical active fault code.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or equivalent OEM diagnostic software to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Pull the full list of active and inactive fault codes from the ECU.

   Look for primary critical fault codes that trigger engine protection (e.g., DEF tank temperature/heating control valve failures like SPN 3363, SCR operator inducement like SPN 5246, high engine coolant temperature, low oil pressure, or fuel system errors).

   Do not attempt to clear the F-1569-31 code first; it will not clear as long as the primary fault remains active.

   Identify the Primary Fault

   Review the diagnostic tool for the root-cause fault code that initiated the engine derate.

   Repair the Root Cause

   Follow the specific OEM troubleshooting steps for the primary fault code. For example, if the primary code indicates a DEF heating control valve failure, inspect the valve for leaks or reverse assembly, and replace it if necessary. If it is an SCR inlet temperature sensor out of range, replace the sensor.

   Verify Repair

   Turn the key on and verify that the primary fault code has transitioned from 'Active' to 'Inactive'.

   Clear Codes

   Use the electronic service tool to clear all inactive fault codes.

   Reset Derate (If Applicable)

   In some Case IH equipment, if the inducement system was locked due to repeated emissions detections, the system must be manually reset using the dealer service tool screen (e.g., 'Engine Restart Counter Reset').

   Test Run

   Run the engine to ensure the check engine light remains off, full torque is restored, and the F-1569-31 code does not return.
