F-2634-06 - ECU

Case IH F-2634-06 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Auxiliary power relay high side driver circuit short to ground failure

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit has detected a short to ground condition in the high side control circuit for the auxiliary power relay (K-064). The ECU monitors the voltage it sends to this relay, and if the voltage drops out due to a ground short, it triggers this code.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
  • 7240
  • 8240
  • 9240
  • Puma
  • Magnum tractors

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the relevant engine wire harnesses and connectors for obvious signs of rubbing, melting, or damage.

  2. Test for continuity to ground in the engine harness between the ECU A-095 engine plug connector (specifically connector X-917) and the auxiliary power relay (K-064) circuit.

  3. Test the K-064 relay coil itself to ensure it has not failed internally and shorted out.

  4. If there is no continuity to ground (meaning no physical short is found in the harness), check the ECU A-095 to ensure it has the appropriate software version.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the machine's battery before servicing the ECU or wiring harness.

  2. Harness Repair

If your multimeter testing in the diagnostic phase indicated a short circuit to ground, locate the exact point of failure in the wiring harness. Repair the grounded conductor or replace the affected section of the wire harness as required.

  3. Relay Replacement

If the wiring is intact but the K-064 relay coil is faulty, remove the old relay from the fuse/relay panel and install a new one.

  4. ECU Re-flash / Replacement

If no physical short is found in the wiring or the relay, the ECU A-095 may have a software glitch or internal hardware failure. Re-flash the ECU with the latest software using the Electronic Service Tool (EST). If the code persists and the ECU cannot be recovered, the ECU A-095 must be replaced.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the EST to clear the inactive fault codes.
