Case IH F-4360-00 - ECU – ECU: Upstream SCR catalyst temperature sensor voltage is higher than expected

The Aftertreatment 1 SCR Catalyst Intake Gas Temperature sensor is registering data that is valid but above the normal operational range (Most Severe Level). The Engine Control Module detects that the exhaust gas temperature entering the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst is implausibly high, or the sensor circuit is experiencing a high-voltage condition. If ignored for too long, this condition can trigger an engine derate.

   Check if the ambient temperature is below 0 °C (32 °F), which could cause solidified fuel (wax).

   Check the primary filter/water separator for water in the fuel.

3. 3

   Inspect fuel supply lines for restrictions and ensure low-pressure fuel lines are tight and secured properly.

   Verify that the Electric Priming Pump (EPP) is operating correctly.

   Check the diesel fuel for contamination.

   Check for air in the fuel system and ensure that the fuel system has been properly primed.

   Inspect the sensor wiring circuit to ensure it is not shorted to a high source.

   Identify the faulty component

   Replace the SCR temperature module / Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor.

   Removal/Installation

   The sensor is a bolted component (Mounting Type: Bolted, Thread Size: M14x1.5). Assembly and disassembly of the exhaust gas temperature sensor must be performed by qualified personnel.

   Fuel System Maintenance

   If the diagnostics point to fuel delivery issues causing the extreme exhaust temperatures, replace any restricted filters and/or screens in the fuel system.

   Clear Codes

   If SCR tamper-proofing codes or severe derate codes become active alongside this fault, they cannot be cleared with a generic scanner; dealer-level software is required to reset the system.
