Case IH F-5006-31 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - Undervoltage monitoring error

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) routinely performs internal diagnostic "shut-off path" tests. These tests are designed to safely deactivate all power stages relevant to fuel injection if a critical error is detected. If the ECU's internal circuitry detects an under-voltage condition while executing this specific monitoring test, it logs this fault code.

   Verify that the machine's batteries are fully charged and that the alternator is outputting the correct voltage under load to rule out severe system voltage drops.

   Inspect the main wiring harness connecting to the ECU for water intrusion, corrosion, or backed-out pins at the connectors.

   Perform a loaded voltage drop test on the main power and ground circuits feeding the ECU to ensure it receives full battery voltage without excessive resistance.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Inspect and Clean

   Disconnect the ECU harness connectors. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and ensure no pins are bent or corroded. Reconnect and test the machine to see if the code clears.

   Repair Wiring

   If you find a damaged power or ground wire during your diagnostic checks, perform a temporary or permanent harness repair using OEM-approved sealed splices.

   Replace the ECU

   If the wiring, grounds, and battery voltage are all confirmed to be in perfect working order, the ECU's internal undervoltage monitoring circuit has failed. You must remove the faulty ECU and install a replacement.

   Flash/Program

   A new ECU will require programming/flashing with the specific machine's software and injector trim codes using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
