Case IH F-516354-31 - CGR – CGR: Internal Supply Voltage Fault
Issue description
The internal power supply circuitry within the receiver module has failed, or the voltage it is regulating internally has dropped out of the acceptable operating range.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- STEIGER AFS Connect
- Magnum AFS Connect (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
- Optum AFS Connect
Check the cause
Inspect the CGR Serial Interface Cable connecting the roof receiver to the cab harness for any chafing, shorts, or loose connections
Verify the tractor's alternator and batteries are providing a stable 12V nominal voltage to the system, as a severe voltage drop can trigger internal supply faults
Inspect the fuses and relays powering the AFS Connect guidance system and the CGR module
Perform a hard reboot of the AFS Pro 1200 display and the CGR module by shutting down the tractor and disconnecting battery power for a few minutes
Check if a software update is available for the CGR (e.g., updating to version 1.1.0.0 or higher) to resolve communication and voltage monitoring bugs
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical surges.
Locate the CGR receiver
Safely access the cab roof and locate the CGR (Vector Pro) receiver.
Disconnect the CGR serial interface cable
Disconnect the CGR serial interface cable from the receiver.
Inspect the connector pins
Inspect the connector pins on both the harness and the receiver for moisture, corrosion, or bent pins. (If the harness is damaged, replace the interface cable).
Remove the faulty CGR receiver
Unbolt and remove the faulty CGR receiver from its mounting bracket.
Install the new CGR receiver
Install the new CGR receiver and secure it to the mount.
Reconnect the serial interface cable
Reconnect the serial interface cable, ensuring the weather seal is intact.
Reconnect the battery and power on
Reconnect the battery and power on the tractor.
Verify CGR operation
Use the AFS Pro 1200 display to verify that the CGR is recognized, the fault code is cleared, and satellite acquisition is functioning. You may need to re-enter RTK unlock codes or recalibrate guidance settings depending on the replacement unit.
Parts you might need
(2)CNH GNSS/Guidance Receiver (CGR) / AFS Vector Pro Receiver
91737688Base Accuracy Vector Pro Receiver. May require dealer activation/unlocks for higher accuracy levels (like RTK). Not backwards compatible with older non-AFS Connect models.
CGR Serial Interface Cable
55.911.020 or 55.911.AG[020]Depending on exact tractor model and harness configuration.
