Case IH F-518145-31 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: ECU internal failure - SPI communication error

This code indicates an internal hardware or software communication failure within the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Specifically, during the ECU's initialization phase, it tests the correct functioning of the fuel injection path shut-off procedure. If the microprocessor detects a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) communication error internally during this self-test, it logs this fault.

   Verify the fault code is currently present and active on the diagnostic monitor

   Inspect wiring harnesses and connectors leading to ECU A-095 for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

   Perform a harness flex test by ensuring all connectors are fully seated and flexing the involved harnesses to reveal intermittent breaks or shorts

   Check if the appropriate software version is present on the ECU

   Repair Wiring

   If any damaged wiring, bent pins, or corroded connectors were found during the diagnostic checks, repair them and re-test the machine.

   Reload ECU Software

   If the wiring is intact but the SPI communication error is still active, the issue is internal to the module. Attempt to reinstall/reflash the ECU A-095 software using the dealer diagnostic tool (EST).

   Replace the ECU

   If the error reoccurs after the software has been successfully reloaded, the ECU has suffered an unrecoverable internal hardware failure and must be replaced.
