Case IH F-518146-09 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - Wrong set response time

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) timed out during startup or experienced an internal processing delay. The EDC detected that the response time for the internal diagnostic fault check was incorrect.

   Verify if the ECU timed out during the machine's startup sequence.

   Check for any accompanying CAN Bus fault codes or voltage codes (e.g., undervoltage/overvoltage) that might have caused the ECU to power cycle unexpectedly.

   Attempt to re-flash the ECU with the proper dataset using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Flash the ECU

   Attempt to flash the Engine ECU correctly with the latest and proper dataset (software calibration) for your specific machine PIN/engine.

   Retest

   Cycle the key power, allow the machine to boot up, and check if the fault code returns.

   Replace ECU

   If the flashing process fails, or if the fault code persists after a successful flash, the ECU has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure and must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the ECU (EDC) is replaced, you must use the service tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters and calibrate the new module to the tractor's CAN network.
