Case IH F-518165-31 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (Engine ECU / ECM): ECU Internal Failure

Level 2 torque limitation corrected for stable idle speed is activated. The idle fuel quantity is too high, or the engine is experiencing an unexpectedly high load at idle.

   Check the operation point in which the error entry was set using a diagnostic tool

   Investigate the engine for mechanical reasons that would cause an unexpected high load at idle

3. 3

   Erase the Level 2/3 error from the fault code memory

4. 4

   Operate the vehicle for a short distance (e.g., a few kilometers) to see if the fault returns

   Clear the Code

   Erase the fault code memory using your diagnostic tool.

   Test Operation

   Run the machine at idle and operate it under normal conditions for a short distance.

   Evaluate if error reappears

   If the error DOES NOT reappear: Do not replace the ECU. The erasure of the fault code memory is sufficient to resolve the temporary torque limitation.

   Replace ECU if error reappears

   If the error DOES reappear: The Engine ECU has suffered a hard internal failure and cannot be repaired. You must replace the Engine ECU.
