F-519645-00 - ECU

Case IH F-519645-00 - ECU – ECU: SCR Inducement EGR Valve Blocked

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is stuck, blocked by carbon buildup, or failing to flow the expected amount of exhaust gas. Because the EGR system is critical for reducing emissions, its failure triggers an SCR Inducement. This is a forced engine derate designed to protect the engine and force the operator to address the emissions failure.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Farmall 105C
  • Farmall 115C
  • Farmall 120C
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Steiger
  • Magnum

Check the cause

  1. Check for secondary codes related to air filter clogging, boost pressure, or DPF/SCR sensors, which might indicate a broader intake/exhaust restriction.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the EGR valve for corrosion, damaged pins, or short circuits.

  3. Using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or an FPT diagnostic instrument, command the EGR valve to open and close to monitor position sensor feedback.

  4. Remove the EGR valve and visually inspect the intake manifold passages and the valve itself for heavy carbon/soot buildup.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts and ensure safety.

  2. Clear access

Depending on the specific tractor model, temporarily remove or support surrounding components (such as the starter motor) to gain clear access to the EGR unit.

  3. Disconnect wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the EGR valve housing.

  4. Remove piping

Loosen the retaining clip/clamp and detach the exhaust gas pipe from the EGR valve housing.

  5. Unbolt the valve

Unscrew the EGR fastening screws on the front side of the valve, followed by the screws on the valve support side.

  6. Remove and clean

Remove the EGR unit. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces on the engine and ensure the intake/exhaust passages are free of loose carbon.

  7. Install new valve

Install the new EGR valve using a new gasket. Do not use liquid gasket sealer.

  8. Reassembly

Tighten the fastening screws to OEM torque specs, reattach the exhaust pipe and clip, and plug the electrical connector back in.

  9. Reset the ECU

Reconnect the battery. You must use a diagnostic tool to clear the historical fault codes and reset the SCR Inducement state; otherwise, the tractor may remain in derate/creep mode.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • EGR Control Valve

    5801669153

Alternative/Superseded Part Numbers: 5801669149, 55460. Fits Case IH Farmall (105C-120C) and various FPT-powered Case/New Holland equipment.

  • EGR Cooler

    5801958838

Highly recommended to inspect while replacing the valve, as a blocked valve often accompanies a restricted cooler.
