F-519645-16 - ECU

Case IH F-519645-16 - ECU – Engine ECU: SCR Inducement: Level 1 (Torque reduction), triggered by EGR valve blocked fault.

Issue description

The engine's Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is mechanically blocked, stuck, or failing to open/close properly. Because the EGR system is malfunctioning, the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system triggers a Level 1 inducement, actively reducing engine torque to protect the engine.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect

  • Farmall 95A
  • Farmall 105A
  • Farmall 115A

  • Wheel Loaders

Check the cause

  1. Check the EGR valve for heavy carbon buildup or dirt on the valve seat (Visual & Mechanical Inspection)

  2. Perform an actuation test to check if the EGR valve is sticking or completely blocked mechanically from opening/closing

  3. Check the EGR valve position sensor to verify if the commanded position and actual measured position are mismatched

  4. Verify the tightness of the EGR valve and its corresponding position

Repair steps

  1. Access the EGR Valve

Locate the EGR valve on the exhaust/intake manifold routing of the FPT engine.

  2. Remove and Inspect

Remove the EGR valve and inspect the valve seat and internal flap for carbon fouling.

  3. Clean or Replace

If the blockage is purely carbon buildup, cleaning the valve seat thoroughly may restore functionality. If the valve is mechanically bound, the internal motor is burnt out, or the position sensor is mismatched/failed, the entire EGR valve assembly must be replaced.

  4. Reinstall

Install the new or cleaned EGR valve using new gaskets to prevent exhaust leaks.

  5. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic tool to clear the engine ECU fault codes. Once the ECU verifies that the EGR valve is functioning and flowing correctly, the SCR Level 1 Torque Reduction inducement will automatically deactivate.
