Case IH F-519859-00 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (Engine ECU): Info: Torque Limitation active: OBD performance limiter is active.
Issue description
This is an informational fault code indicating that the engine's On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) system has actively commanded a power reduction (torque limitation or "creep mode") as a protective measure or an emissions-compliance inducement.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Steiger
- Magnum
- Maxxum
- Farmall
- 240 Series Combines
- Komatsu WB93R-8
Check the cause
Scan for root-cause codes using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST), as this code does not require action on its own.
Analyze the failure memory for primary fault codes related to NOx sensor signal deviations, SCR inducement warnings (DEF quality, tampering, or empty tank), or engine coolant/turbocharger over-temperature protections.
Check the limiter status to verify which specific system activated the performance limitation.
Repair steps
Emergency Override (If necessary)
If the machine is stranded in the field or fully loaded, the OBD performance limiter can be temporarily disabled using the dealer service tester at maximum 5 times for 4.00h each time.
Diagnose the Root Cause
Follow the troubleshooting tree for the primary fault code found during your diagnostic check (e.g., diagnosing a failed NOx sensor, draining contaminated DEF fluid, or fixing a coolant leak).
Perform the Physical Repair
Replace the faulty emissions or engine component dictating the inducement.
Reset the Inducement
Once the root cause is repaired, use the CNH EST to clear the fault codes and reset the SCR inducement / restart counters.
Test Run
Operate the machine under load to ensure the torque limitation does not reactivate and that NOx conversion levels return to normal parameters.
