F-520432-31 - CGR

Case IH F-520432-31 - CGR – CGR (CNH GNSS/Guidance Receiver): RF Interference or Jammer Detected

Issue description

The GNSS receiver is detecting external radio frequency (RF) interference or a deliberate jamming signal that is overpowering or disrupting its ability to track satellite signals accurately.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380, and 400)

Check the cause

  1. Move the machine to an open-sky area away from potential sources of RF interference such as high-voltage power lines, active military bases, two-way/CB radios, or illegal GPS jammers.

  2. Check the GNSS status indicators on the top bar of the AFS Pro 1200 display to see if satellite tracking recovers once the machine is relocated.

  3. Verify the current CGR software version. Ensure the CGR software is updated (e.g., version 1.1.0.0, 2.1.0.0, or higher) to benefit from the latest signal filtering improvements.

  4. Inspect the CGR serial interface cable for chafing, shielding damage, or loose connections that could allow localized electromagnetic interference (EMI) to enter the system.

Repair steps

  1. Relocate and Reboot

Move the tractor to a known good location. Cycle the key power to see if the CGR clears the jammer detection latch.

  2. Update CGR Firmware

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port. Select the CNH CGR GNSS controller and place it into programming mode. Follow the EST prompts to download and flash the latest firmware update file to the receiver. Wait for the process to complete and the receiver to reboot.

  3. Harness Replacement

If the serial interface cable shielding is compromised, replace the cable to restore proper EMI protection.

  4. Receiver Replacement

If the receiver continues to log internal RF interference faults in isolated environments (indicating an internal hardware failure of the antenna/receiver board), replace the CGR unit.
