F-522808-12 - CGR

Case IH F-522808-12 - CGR – CGR (CNH GNSS/Guidance Receiver): NV Memory

Issue description

This fault code indicates an internal failure with the Non-Volatile (NV) Memory. Non-volatile memory is responsible for retaining saved settings, calibration data, and guidance lines when the machine is powered off. The "-12" failure mode identifier typically points to an internal hardware or software corruption issue preventing the module from reading or writing to this memory.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380, 400)
  • Case IH Steiger AFS Connect series
  • Other Case IH / New Holland equipment utilizing the Pro 1200 display and CGR guidance architecture

Check the cause

  1. Perform a complete key-off power cycle of the machine. Wait for the AFS Pro 1200 display and receiver to completely power down, then turn the key back on to see if the NV Memory fault clears or transitions from 'Active' to 'Inactive'.

  2. Use the Pro 1200 display or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the current software version of the CGR.

  3. Verify if there is a newer firmware version available for the CGR. Software corruption can sometimes trigger false NV memory faults.

Repair steps

  1. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine.

Note: For AFS Connect machines (like the Magnum AFS Connect), you must use the DPA5 adapter with the newer Type 2 (Green) diagnostic connector, as the older Type 1 (Black) connector is not compatible with the 500 Kbps CAN bus speed on these models.

  2. Navigate to the CGR module in the EST and attempt to clear the fault code.

  3. If the code clears and does not return upon a reboot, the error was likely a temporary software glitch.

  4. If the code is active and a software update is available, reflash the CGR module to the latest firmware.

  5. If the firmware update fails, or if the fault code remains active and cannot be cleared, the internal NV memory has suffered a permanent physical failure.

  6. Replace the AFS Vector Pro (CGR) receiver.

  7. After replacement, use the EST to configure the new receiver, input any necessary unlock codes (e.g., for RTK or medium accuracy), and calibrate the system.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • AFS Vector Pro Receiver / CNH GNSS Guidance Receiver (CGR)

    48183189

Hardware Receiver / Antenna. Ensure you are ordering the correct unlock level (Base, Medium, or RTK) for the customer's specific farming operation, as unlocks are tied to the receiver hardware.

  • Vector Pro Receiver Kit - Base Accuracy

    91737688

Alternative/Kit Part Number. Ensure you are ordering the correct unlock level (Base, Medium, or RTK) for the customer's specific farming operation, as unlocks are tied to the receiver hardware.
