Case IH F-522809-12 - CGR – CGR (CNH GNSS/Guidance Receiver): Internal Receiver EEPROM Fault

Critical internal hardware or software failure where the receiver's EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is corrupted, damaged, or has failed a read/write operation.

   Power cycle the tractor to determine if the code is a temporary soft error or an active, hard fault.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) using the DPA5 adapter with the Type 2 (Green) diagnostic connector (required for 500 Kbps CAN communication).

   Check the current software version of the CGR. Attempt to reflash or update the CGR software (e.g., versions 1.0.0.0, 1.1.0.0, or 2.1.0.0) as a successful reflash can sometimes overwrite corrupted EEPROM sectors.

   Verify hardware condition: if the EST cannot communicate with the CGR, or if the flash fails and the code remains active, the EEPROM is physically damaged and requires replacement.

   Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the cab roof where the CGR GPS Antenna Receiver is mounted.

   Disconnect the CGR serial interface cable (wiring harness) from the back of the receiver.

   Unbolt or unlatch the faulty CGR receiver from its mounting bracket.

   Install the new replacement CGR receiver onto the roof mount and secure it.

   Reconnect the serial interface cable and ensure the weather seal is intact.

   Turn on the battery disconnect and power up the tractor.

   Connect the EST (via the Green Type 2 connector) or use the AFS Pro 1200 display to configure the new receiver, verify CAN communication, and ensure the 522809-12 fault code has cleared.
