F-522817-12 - CGR

Case IH F-522817-12 - CGR – CGR: Internal IMU Fault

Issue description

The internal Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) hardware has failed, lost calibration, or is reporting invalid internal data that cannot be resolved by the processor.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • STEIGER AFS Connect
  • Case IH AFS Connect Magnum Series (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
  • Case IH Steiger Series (AFS Connect models)
  • Case IH Patriot Sprayers

Check the cause

  1. Check the CGR serial interface cable and harness for proper voltage and clean grounds to rule out voltage spikes or drops causing internal component errors.

  2. Verify the CGR software version via the AFS Pro 1200 display and update if necessary (e.g., to version 1.1.0.0 or 2.1.0.0) to patch erroneous fault logic.

  3. Perform a hard reset by power cycling the tractor, turning off the battery disconnect switch for 5 minutes, and powering it back on to see if inactive codes can be cleared.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the machine and engage the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Disconnect Harness

Safely access the cab roof. Disconnect the CGR serial interface cable/wiring harness from the back of the receiver.

  3. Remove Receiver

Unlatch or unbolt the faulted CGR receiver from the roof mounting bracket.

  4. Install New Receiver

Mount the replacement AFS Vector Pro / PLM Cygnus receiver onto the bracket and secure it.

  5. Reconnect

Plug the serial interface cable back into the new receiver.

  6. Configuration & Unlocks

Power on the machine. Access the AFS Pro 1200 or Pro 700 display. Input activation/unlock codes (via the CNH VMS portal) to restore the customer's specific accuracy level (e.g., Medium, High, or RTK).

  7. Calibration

Because the IMU is new, you must perform a terrain compensation/roll calibration on a hard, flat, and level surface as outlined in the PRO 1200 Software Operating Guide.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • AFS Vector Pro GPS Antenna Receiver
