Case IH F-522820-12 - CGR – CGR (Cygnus GPS Receiver) / Antenna Module: CGR: Receiver unable to track satellites
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the Custom GPS Receiver (CGR) is unable to acquire or maintain a lock on a sufficient number of GPS/GLONASS satellites to calculate a valid position. It is triggered when the signal is completely obstructed, the wiring harness is damaged, or the receiver hardware has failed internally.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- STEIGER AFS Connect
- Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series
- Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect series
- Case IH Puma
- Case IH Maxxum
- Case IH Axial-Flow Combines
- Case IH Patriot Sprayers
- Case IH Guardian Sprayers
Check the cause
Ensure the machine is parked in an open area with a clear view of the sky to rule out signal obstruction
Perform a power cycle/hard reset by unplugging the receiver from Port B or the main roof harness, waiting 20 seconds, and plugging it back in
Inspect the CGR serial interface cable and roof wire harness for intact connections, corrosion, or physical damage
Verify in the AFS display that the RTK/correction source datum and vehicle profiles are correctly configured
Repair steps
Check for signal obstruction
Move the tractor/combine to a completely clear area with a 360-degree view of the sky. Turn the key ON and monitor the AFS display to see if satellite tracking resumes.
Access receiver
If the fault remains active, safely access the cab roof to reach the CGR receiver.
Inspect harness and pins
Disconnect the receiver's main harness. Inspect the pins on both the receiver and the cable side for pushed pins, moisture intrusion, or green corrosion.
Test voltage and ground
Use a multimeter to verify that the receiver is getting proper voltage and ground from the controller harness.
Replace harness
If the wiring harness is damaged, replace the CGR serial interface cable/harness.
Replace receiver
If the harness tests good and power is present but the receiver still fails to track satellites, the receiver hardware has failed. Remove the mounting hardware and replace the CGR receiver dome.
Calibrate new receiver
Once the new receiver is installed, power on the machine and use the AFS display to re-enter the correction source settings and calibrate the new receiver to the vehicle profile.
