Case IH F-5272-31 - ECU – Electronic Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - ADC test

The ECU continuously monitors the efficiency and accuracy of its internal Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). The fault is logged if the converted test voltage falls outside the specified range (4.73 - 4.83 V) more than a set threshold, meaning the module can no longer accurately read analog sensor inputs.

   Check for external power supplies (jump-starter, unregulated charger) connected to the battery, as voltage spikes can cause the ADC test to fail. Disconnect and re-test if present.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the fault is Active or Inactive (inactive may indicate an intermittent voltage glitch).

   Check the charging system and battery to ensure the alternator is not overcharging and batteries provide stable voltage.

   Inspect the main power and ground pins at the A-095 ECU wiring harness for corrosion, loose connections, or shorts that could cause internal voltage drops.

   Connect the EST

   Establish communication with the A-095 ECU using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool.

   Attempt software flash

   Check the ECU for the latest software version. Re-flash or reinstall the ECU software to rule out software corruption triggering false internal failure codes.

   Clear and retest

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the key. Run the engine to see if the F-5272-31 code returns.

   Replace the ECU

   If the software cannot be reinstalled, or if the fault code immediately returns after a re-flash, the internal Analog to Digital Converter has suffered a hard failure. Remove and replace the A-095 ECU.

   Program new module

   Install the new ECU and use the EST to program the module with the correct machine calibrations and software payload.
