Case IH F-5572-14 - ECU – Engine Control Module (ECM) / ECU A-095: ECU internal failure - NTP error in ADC monitoring

The Electronic Control Module (ECU) uses a No-load Test Pulse (NTP) operation to monitor the efficiency and functionality of its internal Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). During this process, the ECU internally connects one of its analog inputs to the ground periodically to check the analog-to-digital conversion. If the conversion result repetitively falls into the wrong voltage level, the ECU detects an internal monitoring error and triggers this fault.

   Verify ECU A-095 software version to determine if the fault is caused by incorrect settings or a physical hardware failure

   Visually inspect the ECU harnesses and connectors for damaged, bent, or pushed-back pins, corroded terminals, or chafed wires

   Ensure connectors are fully seated and flex the harnesses while observing the monitor to check for intermittent shorts or breaks

   Re-flash the ECU

   Connect the diagnostic tool and re-flash ECU A-095 with the appropriate, updated software.

   Test Operation

   Clear the fault codes and operate the machine to see if the code returns.

   Replace the ECU

   If the fault code persists after a successful software re-flash and wiring inspection, the internal hardware of the Analog to Digital Converter has failed. The ECU A-095 must be replaced. Note: If full power loss is experienced in the field due to this code, emergency re-starts (allowing 30 seconds of operation to move the machine) are available after the engine has been commanded to low idle.
