Case IH F-5839-16 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Denox Module: SCR Inducement: Level 1 (Torque reduction), triggered by DEF/AdBlue Consumption fault

This is a consequential fault (a derate/inducement code) triggered when the system detects that the engine is not consuming the expected amount of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF/AdBlue). The root cause for the inducement must be repaired.

   Scan for root cause codes (e.g., 5839-0 or 5839-15) related to the DEF pump, doser injector, or pressure using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Visually inspect all DEF lines from the tank to the pump and pump to the doser injector for leaks, kinks, or crystallization.

   Remove the DEF doser injector from the exhaust pipe and inspect the nozzle for severe crystallization or blockage.

   Perform a DEF system pressure and dosing test using the diagnostic tool to verify pump pressure and injector spray pattern.

   Identify the Failed Component

   Based on the dosing test and root-cause fault codes, determine if the failure is a blocked doser injector, a failed DEF pump, or a ruptured line.

   Replace the Faulty Part

   If the doser is blocked/failed: Disconnect the electrical connector and DEF line, unbolt the doser from the exhaust SCR unit, and install the new injector. If the pump has failed: Relieve system pressure, disconnect the coolant lines (if heated), DEF lines, and electrical harness from the supply module, and swap in the replacement pump.

   Reassemble and Prime

   Reconnect all lines and harnesses. Turn the key to the ON position to allow the system to prime. Check for leaks.

   Clear Codes and Reset

   Connect the CNH EST diagnostic tool. Clear the inactive root-cause fault codes.

   Run SCR System Validation

   Perform an SCR system test/override via the diagnostic tool. Once the ECU verifies that DEF pressure and consumption have returned to normal parameters, the F-5839-16 Level 1 Inducement (Torque Derate) will automatically clear, and full engine power will be restored.
