Case IH F-630-14 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Dosing Control Unit (DCU): Calibration Memory - Special Instructions / ECU internal failure - EEPROM write error

The control module has encountered a checksum failure, access error, or write error when attempting to save, read, or verify data in its internal non-volatile EEPROM.

   Verify recent service history to check if the machine recently underwent ECM tuning, tampering, or a software update. Interrupted downloads or incompatible data sets are the primary software causes.

   Power cycle the machine by turning off the ignition, waiting for the main relay to open (at least 10 to 30 seconds to allow the ECU to power down completely), and turning the power back on. Check if the fault is active or stored.

   Check the battery voltage and the power supply wiring to the ECU/DCU (specifically the K15 ignition power circuit). A voltage drop or power interruption during an ECU write cycle can corrupt the EEPROM.

   Ensure there are no communication interruptions on the CAN bus, especially if a diagnostic tool was recently connected.

   Clear and retest

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Attempt to clear the fault code. If the code immediately returns as Active, the EEPROM corruption is persistent.

   Software flash / calibration update

   Attempt a new download of the dedicated data set (calibration file) to the ECU/DCU using the CNH EST. This can overwrite the corrupted memory sectors.

   Verify flash success

   If the flash completes successfully, cycle the key and rescan the system. If the F-630-14 code does not return, the machine is repaired.

   Replace module

   If the diagnostic tool refuses the flash, the flash fails repeatedly, or the code returns immediately after a successful flash, the ECU/DCU has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure. The module must be replaced.
