Case IH F-641-11 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Electronic Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT) actuator is blocked

The turbocharger control actuator is reporting a control or system failure over the CAN bus message network, which can be caused by a physical blockage, an internal electronic defect within the actuator, or a supply/communication issue.

   Check CAN Configuration in the eVGT smart actuator to ensure it is communicating properly

   Inspect the eVGT power supply and wiring for undervoltage, short circuits, or missing/broken CAN cables

   Check for associated CAN Bus timeout errors (e.g., frame SRA2EDC disconnected) which would indicate a broken communication line

   Check if the actuator or the turbocharger linkage is physically jammed, causing the motor effort to be too high

   Inspect the Harness

   Visually and electrically inspect the CAN cable and wiring harness connected to the eVGT actuator for breaks, short circuits, or missing connections.

   Test Voltage

   Verify that the correct power supply voltage is reaching the eVGT actuator. Check the dedicated eVGT fuse if power is missing.

   Check Linkage

   Disconnect the actuator linkage (if applicable) and move the turbocharger vanes by hand to ensure they are not mechanically bound with soot or debris.

   Evaluate Actuator Electronics

   If the wiring, power supply, and physical linkage are all in good condition but the actuator still reports a failure or remains blocked, the electronic controller inside the actuator is defective.

   Replace Component

   Replace the eVGT actuator and perform any necessary relearn/calibration procedures via the electronic service tool.
