Case IH F-651-05 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Open load error of injector in cylinder 1

The system logs this when the current to Injector #1 is less than expected or increases too rapidly. Essentially, the control module's diagnostic procedure uses pattern detection to evaluate the injector (identified as Y-061 in some manuals) and has detected an open circuit or insufficient current draw in the electrical circuit for cylinder 1.

   Check if any other error codes are displayed alongside F-651-05.

   Verify that the tractor battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump starter or external charger).

   If an external power supply is connected to the machine, disconnect it immediately and test the system for normal operation, as external voltage irregularities can trigger this specific open load pattern.

   Disconnect any external power supplies and turn off the machine.

   Locate the fuel injector for cylinder 1 (Injector Y-061).

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the cylinder 1 injector for signs of an open circuit, broken wires, or poor pin contact.

   Check the continuity of the wiring from the injector connector back to the ECU A-095 power stage.

   Test the resistance of the cylinder 1 injector coil to determine if the injector itself has failed internally (causing the open load/low current condition).

   Repair any damaged wiring or replace the faulty fuel injector if it fails the resistance test.

   Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool and run the engine to verify the repair.
