Case IH F-652-03 - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Short circuit error of injector in cylinder 2

The system has detected a short circuit in the electrical circuit or driver responsible for firing the fuel injector on the engine's second cylinder.

   Check for related codes, specifically fault 3210 (DTC 7116) - 'Injection bank 1 short circuit failure', which indicates the issue might affect all injectors on the same bank rather than just cylinder 2.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the cylinder 2 injector for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched lines causing a short circuit.

   Test the internal resistance of the cylinder 2 fuel injector to see if the short is internal to the injector solenoid itself.

   Safely shut down the machine.

   Note: If full power loss was experienced, emergency re-starts are only enabled after the engine has been commanded to low idle (allowing 30 seconds of operation to move the machine).

   Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage during testing.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the cylinder 2 fuel injector.

   Using a multimeter, test the injector wiring harness for a short circuit to ground or a short between the two injector wires.

   If a short circuit is indicated in the wiring, repair or replace the wire harness as required.

   If the harness tests good, the short is likely internal to the injector. Replace the cylinder 2 fuel injector.

   Reconnect all components, clear the ECU fault codes, and test run the engine to verify the repair.
