Case IH F13 – Transmission Controller: Upshift and downshift switches both closed / Open circuit from fuse 13
Issue description
The transmission controller is receiving a simultaneous electrical signal from both the upshift and downshift buttons on the gear shift lever, or on CFPS units, there is a loss of power or broken connection on the circuit protected by Fuse 13.

Check the cause
Check for operator error to ensure both upshift and downshift buttons are not being pressed simultaneously
Enter the tractor's 'H5' menu mode (Switch Test) to monitor live switch states and determine if a button is mechanically stuck or internally shorted closed
Inspect Fuse 13 in the cab fuse panel for a blown filament or open circuit (specifically on CFPS units)
Use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the gear shift lever and the transmission controller for shorts to ground or open circuits
Repair steps
Clear Operator Error
If both switches were manually depressed by the driver, simply release the switches to automatically resume normal operation.
Replace the Shift Knob
If the H5 switch test confirms a switch is permanently closed, remove the steering column covers or side console trim, disconnect the wiring harness, remove the faulty gear lever knob, install the new unit, and reassemble.
Repair Open Circuit
If Fuse 13 is blown, trace the wiring harness for a short to ground (chafed wires rubbing against the chassis), repair the damaged wire, and replace Fuse 13.
Clear Codes
Enter the 'HB' menu (Display of Stored Error Codes) to clear the F13 code from the microprocessor's non-volatile memory, then test drive the tractor to ensure normal upshifting and downshifting are restored.
