Case IH F19 – Transmission Controller: 19th Gear Clutch Solenoid Open Circuit Or Short To Ground
Issue description
This fault code indicates an electrical failure in the circuit controlling the 19th gear clutch solenoid. The system has detected that the circuit is either broken (open circuit) or that the wiring/solenoid is shorting directly to the chassis ground. When this code is active, the 19th gear function is typically disabled to prevent transmission damage.

Check the cause
Check the transmission extension harness to the main harness connection. Ensure the connectors are tight, clean, and free of corrosion.
Disconnect the transmission controller connector and the 19th gear clutch solenoid connector, then use a multimeter to check for continuity on the signal and ground wires between the controller pins and the solenoid pins (Open Circuit Check).
With the connectors unplugged, check for continuity between the solenoid signal wire and the tractor's chassis ground to identify any shorts in the wiring harness.
Test the internal resistance of the 19th gear clutch solenoid itself to determine if it is completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted internally.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire or a short to ground in the harness, repair or replace the affected section of the transmission wiring harness.
Replace the Solenoid
If the wiring tests perfectly but the solenoid fails the resistance test, locate the 19th gear clutch solenoid on the transmission control valve block and replace it.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect all harnesses and clear the stored fault codes from the transmission controller memory.
Perform Transmission Calibration
Any time a PWM solenoid valve is replaced, a mechanical repair is made, or the non-volatile memory is reset, you must perform the Auto Calibration Procedure (ACP) / Transmission Clutch Calibration. Warm the transmission oil, set engine speed to 1200 ERPM, and use the tractor's digital display to run the H1 Clutch and Synchroniser Calibration until "END" is displayed.
Parts you might need
(1)19th Gear Clutch Solenoid (Transmission Control Valve Solenoid)
Ensure you are sourcing the solenoid specifically for the 19-speed (50 km/h) Full Powershift transmission, as 18-speed (40 km/h) models do not utilize this specific solenoid.
