Case IH F2A – Transmission Controller: Clutch A Solenoid Over Voltage

The controller has detected an abnormally high voltage on the circuit responsible for operating the Clutch A solenoid, typically caused by a short circuit to battery voltage (+12V) or a 5-volt reference line. When this code is active, the transmission's safety protocol is triggered, and the transmission status is set to 'Disabled'.

   Check the wiring harness connecting the Transmission Controller to the Clutch A solenoid for any short circuits to a +12V power source or a 5V reference line.

   Start the engine and enter the diagnostic 'HJ mode' using the diagnostic switch. Depress the clutch pedal, move the shuttle lever into forward, and release the clutch to select the Clutch 'A' solenoid (display will show 'A'). Press and hold the downshift control switch to energize the solenoid.

   Observe the pressure reading on a hydraulic test gauge during the H-Menu test. It should read 16-18 bar (for 120 to 155 models) or 20-22 bar (for 175 and 190 models). If pressure is out of spec or the solenoid fails to energize, the solenoid is likely faulty.

   Safety Prep

   Relieve hydraulic pressure, lower all equipment to the ground, block the front and rear wheels, and disconnect the battery.

   Wiring Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short circuit in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring and connectors.

   Solenoid Replacement

   If the solenoid is internally shorted, locate the transmission valve body. Unbolt the faulty Clutch A PMV (Proportional Magnetic Valve) solenoid. Clean the mounting surface thoroughly to prevent contamination, and install the new solenoid.

   Transmission Calibration

   Place all shift levers in neutral. Press and hold the High and Low range buttons simultaneously and start the engine. Release the buttons when 'CAL' appears on the transmission display. Set the engine speed to 1200 RPM (± 100 RPM) and follow the on-screen prompts to cycle through and calibrate the clutch packs.
